GUIDANCE FOR COMPETITIVE EXAMS

 We, at SNCW are very proud of our students and give them the best facility to achieve their dreams. As a stepping stone toward their success we give training and coaching classes to students to appear confidently for competitive examinations. We believe in the principle of 'Work in Silence and Let Success Make the Noise'. The students are given guidance for competitive examinations like Civil Services, UGC and CSIR NET, CAT, MAT, PSC etc. The following are the details of some of the Competitive Examination Guidance classes that have been organized in the institution.

  • Entry in Service
    UGC has provided financial assistance to implement the Scheme of Coaching classes for entry in services for SC/ST and Minorities .The basic objective of the coaching scheme is to prepare students belonging to SC / ST/ OBC (non-creamy layer) and Minority communities to get gainful employment in Group 'A', 'B' or 'C' Central services, State services or equivalent positions in the private sector. The coaching under the scheme is oriented for particular examinations conducted for selection to services, such as the IAS, State Public Services, Bank recruitment, etc. The coaching is focused, taking into consideration the specific requirements of a particular competitive examination. Coaching has been given for PSC examinations by dividing the candidates into groups of not more than 25 students and invited resource persons handled the classes covering all subjects required for the exams.The center is equipped with a good collection of reference books to help students to prepare for different competitive examinations.

  • IT Mission Course (Skill Enhancement Women Resource Centre)
    Kerala State Information Technology Mission (KSITM) is an autonomous nodal IT implementation agency for Department of Information Technology, Government of Kerala which provides managerial support to various initiatives of the Department. Skill Enhancement Women Resource Centers have been set up in the college by Kerala State IT Mission .It is a training programme for students from Arts and Science Stream without computer literacy which is being conducted in the morning and evening on all week days in association with KSITM. The duration of course is for 120 hours. We have been conducting the IT Mission course (Skill Enhancement Women Resource Centre) since 2011. Many teachers from various department in our college are working as Resource persons. A core group within the college headed by the Principal, Nodal officer and faculty regularly review the programme. Curriculum included training on various skills such as communication, behavioural, personality development computer operational skills etc. for a period of 120 hrs. A total of 450 students were to be trained in one year. In the first phase, a computer lab with 15 PC was set up along with training in other skills. In the second phase job placement was to be facilitated for the students, in IT industry with the help of suitable tie-up with industry and placement agencies.
    Classes are conducted in the following labs.

    2. Kerala State IT Mission "Skill Enhancement Women Resource Center" computer room

  • Career Guidance Cell
    The Career Guidance Cell aims at giving students information and guidance on the best placements available. The Cell conducts seminars and campus recruitment drives. It also coordinates career counselling sessions on the latest trends in the job arena. The centre gives orientation and guidance for preparing various competitive examinations like UGC/CSIR, Bank tests, PSC exams, Civil Service etc.

  • Walk With a Scholar (WWS) Programme
    "Walk with Scholar" is a mentoring program functioning under the "New Initiatives in Higher Education" of the Department of Collegiate Education, Government of Kerala. This scheme introduces the idea of mentoring to under graduate students and builds on the concept of mentor as a 'Guide' and 'Friend'. Increased awareness regarding higher studies and career options in one's academic field is one of the areas touched by this programme. Internal and external mentors provide coaching classes for the students on various competitive exams. Mock interview and GD were conducted for the students and they were able to get an idea of the interviews they may face in future and it boosted their confidence.
